This letter was sent to the Opelika-Auburn news in response to their inquiry into how Auburn University was perparing for a Southern Association of Colleges and Schools investigation of university governance.

This letter from Isabelle Thompson (Secretary to the Senate) and Jim Bradley (Senate Chair) was published in the Auburn Bulletin on August 22. It was mailed to all 14 trustees, Bill Walker, and VP DeMent on August 24.

The Termination of Auburn's Doctoral Program in Economics
Dr. David N. Laband, currently Professor of Forest Economics and Policy at Auburn, was the Head of the Department of Economics at Auburn in 1999 when the Board of Trustees voted to terminate the doctoral program in Economics.
