Executive Committee


Bill Kennedy - Chair
Montgomery, AL
Mr. Kennedy was born in Birmingham and attended Woodlawn High School. He graduated from Auburn University in 1964. He currently resides in Montgomery with his wife Susan S. Kennedy. They have three children: Kelly, Grant, and Robby.

Mr. Kennedy worked with two major paper companies for twenty years. He worked in the State Senate Office while the Legislature was in session for eighteen years. In 1988, Mr. Kennedy started Capitol Container, Inc. where he is currently President and CEO. He is a partner in Capitol Coach, LLC, Capitol Controls and Automation, LLC, and Nassau Development Company in Destin, Florida.

He has served on various boards including the Business Council of Alabama, a Children's Home in Montgomery, and the Auburn University Athletic Council.

Mr. Kennedy has been a scholarship donor at Auburn University since 1981 and is also a current suite holder. He is a member of the Auburn University 1856 Society and the Tigers Unlimited All-American Society.



Burke Cox
Fairfax, VA
Mr. Cox grew up in Birmingham, AL where he attended Homewood High School. He earned a Bachelor of Computer Engineering degree from Auburn University in 1993. He currently resides in Fairfax, VA with his wife Heather and their two children, Riley and Ryan.

He is Chief Executive Officer and President of JNetDirect Incorporated. JNetDirect is headquarted in Herndon, VA develops component software for expert developers.

Mr. Cox is active in state and national politics and is particularly interested in issues involving education and race equity. He is a sustaining member of the Republican National Committee.

He serves on the industry advisory board for the Auburn University Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering and the advisory board for the George Mason University College of Information Technology and Engineering. Mr. Cox was named as the Auburn University Computer Science and Software Engineering Outstanding Alumnus for 2003.

Mr. Cox is a member of the Auburn Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Burke and Heather are life members of the Auburn University Alumni Association and are members of the Metro Washington Auburn Club. They are both active advocates for Auburn University and other education causes.



Bob Harris
Decatur, AL
Mr. Harris is a native of Goodwater, Alabama. He attended Auburn (then, Alabama Polytechnic Institute) from 1948 until his graduation in August 1951. Pursued a degree in law at the University of Alabama and graduated in 1945. Three years of military service in the Judge Advocate Corps followed. Since 1957, he has been engaged in law practice in Decatur, Alabama with the firm of Harris, Caddell & Shanks.

Mr. Harris is married and has five children and six grandchildren. Three of his children graduated from Auburn and one grandson is currently enrolled there.

Mr. Harris served in the Alabama Senate from 1966 until 1975. He served on the Auburn Board of Trustees from 1972 until 1982. He is an honorary member of the Senate and Auburn Faculty.



Sandy Logan
New York, NY
Mrs. Logan is actively involved in many civic and charitable organizations. She served on the board of directors of the Birmingham Zoo and the Birmingham Humane Society. Mrs. Logan served as President of the Hoover Little League. She is currently on the Advisory Board for the Jule Collins Smith Art Museum in Auburn. She worked while her husband attended Auburn until his graduation in 1966. She raised two sons and was involved in their school and PTA programs. Both sons graduated from Auburn University.

Her husband, Don, is currently Chairman and CEO of Time Incorporated. They have been actively involved with Auburn University and have donated to different schools on campus. They are also Athletic Scholarship donors. In 1996, the Sandy Logan Scholarship Fund was established for married students at Auburn University.



Dick McAdams
Montgomery, AL
Mr. McAdams graduated with a B.S. in Business in 1957. He founded McAdams Carpets Incorporated in 1957 and is currently President and CEO. In 1988, he founded G.C.O. Carpet Outlet and subsequently sold it to a publicly traded company in 1994.

Mr. McAdams is past president of the Montgomery Auburn Club, past member of the Auburn Alumni Association Board of Directors. He was Chairman of the Auburn Alumni Association legislative task force that was responsible for the board of trustees reform bill.



Charles Rowe
Montgomery, AL
Upon completion of his active military service, Charles began his career with the State of Alabama. He was appointed to administrative duty with the Alabama National Guard.

Charles joined the State Finance Department in 1959 where he rose to Assistant State Budget Officer before being chosen as Vice President for fiscal affairs at Jacksonville State University in 1971.

In 1980, Charles was assigned by the University Board of trustees to serve simultaneously as Assistant State Finance Director and Jacksonville State University Vice President. He held both positions for over eight years. Returning full time to the Finance Department, he completed thirty-five years of service in 1994. During the continuous service period, Charles served for eleven Governors, twenty-three Finance Directors, and three University Presidents before retiring from the position of Assistant State Finance Director and State Budget Director.

Charles subsequently joined WMX of Alabama, Inc. to serve as Manager of Environmental Education and Economic affairs. He was later assigned as Director of Governmental Affairs where he served until the dissolution of WMX of Alabama, Inc. Charles is now owner and president of Charlie Rowe and Associates where he continues to serve clients through governmental and public relations. He is an associate with John Crawford and Associates and a member of Franklin Resources Group, L.L.C.

Charles is active with the Chamber of Commerce, charter member of The Wright Flyers, Optimist Civic Club (President), PALS (People Against a Littered State) Board Member, Legacy (a partnership for environmental education) President, Board member and Executive Committee member and State Defense Force Commander for the Air. He serves on the Tax and Fiscal Committee of the Business Council of Alabama, participates in activities of the Alabama Press Association, member of Auburn University Alumni Association, Souther Baptist Church, Mason, Scottish Rite and Omicron Delta Kappa. He is a life member of the National Association of State Budget Officers, and National Association of College and University Business Officers. He holds a listing in Outstanding Educators of America, is a Public Certified Manager and holds a LL.D. degree from the University of West Alabama.



Earle Williams
McLean, VA
Mr. Williams graduated from Auburn University with a B.E.E., Communications degree in 1951. After serving in the U.S. Army until 1953, he was employed with Standard Oil Company and the Sandia Corporation prior to joining BDM International in 1962. In 1972, he became President and CEO of BDM and served until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Board of Directors from 1972 until BDM was sold in 1997. At the time of its sale, BDM had over 8,000 employees and annual revenue of over $1 billion.

A resident of McLean, VA, Mr. Williams is a member of the Board of Directors of JNetDirect, Inc., a software development company, Emeritus Director and Past Chairman of the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts; Director and Past Chairman of the Business/Industry Political Action Committee (BIPAC); past Chairman of the Fairfax County Virginia Economic Development Authority; past Chairman of the Naval Research Advisory Committee; and a Permanent Director and Past International Chairman of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA).

From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Williams was Chairman of the $200 million Campaign Auburn. From 1991 to 2004 he was a member of the Auburn University Foundation Board and was Chairman from 2002 to 2004. Previously, he served on the AU Research Advisory Council. He and his wife, June, are life members of the Auburn Alumni Association.

Mr. Williams was inducted into the Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame in 1994.
